Apologies; I don't know how that one got stuck in the queue. The next District meeting will be in August. Have a good summer, everyone!! And don't forget many upcoming activities: - Order of the Arrow Lodge Executive Council (LEC) meeting Tuesday May 6, 7 pm at the Lott Service Center (Scout office). All OA members across the Lodge and Council are welcome. Officers are required to attend. Sashes should be worn. - OA Chapter meeting and District Dutch Oven Cookoff at the final Roundtable of the Scouting year Thursday May 8, 7 pm at St. John's United Methodist Church (on University just across from Tech). New chapter name will be discussed and voted on and new lodge flap will be introduced at this meeting -- see also below. All Chapter Arrowmen are welcome; chapter officers required to attend. Sashes should be worn. (Note this Roundtable, uniquely to this date in my experience, will include a FULL PROGRAM PREVIEW including electronic documents in CD form for you to use with your units in planning the upcoming Scouting year, so it's definitely worth coming for the above activities and for this.) - Council-wide Scout Show May 10 at the South Plains Fairgrounds, 1012 Ave A in Lubbock. Hope all of your scouts, families and friends will attend (and are selling those Scout Show ticket discount cards!). - OA Spring Ordeal May 16-18 at Camp Post. See announcements send by paper mail. New lodge flaps are ONLY available by attending, so please make plans to join us at Camp Post. For the rest, see the announcements on http://southplainscouncil.org/ and http://chaparraldistrict.org/ . I'd like to take this opportunity also to thank Matt Wade, Robert Jeffcoat and Travis Rubelee for fantastic leadership this past scouting year as the District "Key 3" -- we've still got May and the summer to go, but what a great year so far. Hope to see you at one or all of the above events. Also If you want advance information about Council and District activities for 2008-2009 then come and pickup a Council Calendar while you taste some of the best cooking in the South Plains Council. This will give your unit an excellent opportunity to plan these events into your program! -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... The Cookoff will be in the back parking lot (on the East side of the building) which is easily accessed from 16th street. We will start at 7:00 (our usual time). Entries for the Cookoff should be ready to begin cooking at 7:00. Charcoal will be provided, and should be hot at that time. While we haven't set up categories, past years have had Main Dishes, Appetizers, Breads, and Side Dishes in addition to the world famous Cobblers that we all enjoy so much. It is not too late to participate; just bring your entry and start cooking! -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Austin and Travis have worked very hard to finish up this year and as a result we are only $421 short of our FOS goal. As such, I wanted to send out a reminder to the Chaparral District Committee and ask that if you haven't already given to FOS this year, or if you would like to contribute a little extra this year, or if you think you know someone who would be interested in supporting the Boy Scouts through an FOS pledge, then please send that information on to Travis or Austin. We are so close to reaching our goal. One final push and I'm sure we can reach it! Thanks for everything you do for Scouts.
